April 02, 2008: German hotel reservation service provider hotel.de AG has acquired all rights for the domain hotel.info and plans to build its international expansion on the new domain.

According to the company, with this new domain, an international free of charge platform for hotel evaluation and booking purposes has been put online. Besides the hotels’ key information, such as room prices and amenities, customers in search of a room can now rely on hotel evaluations released by hundreds of thousands of guests from all over the world in order to also base their decision hereupon.

Dr. Heinz Raufer, CEO of the hotel.de AG, said: “We benefit from this take-over in many respects. On the one hand, at times in which user generated content is vital to a platform’s success, we will make use our existing and valuable hotel reviews even more effectively from now on. On the other hand, the domain hotel.info stands for internationality. People all over the world understand the key words “hotel” and “information” immediately. Because of its catchy Internet address, hotel.info will help us obtain an even higher international reach even faster, attract additional new international customers and generate extra booking volume.”

Besides hotel evaluations, as one component of “Web 2.0”, additional customer-generated benefits, such as hotel videos, are at a planning stage.
