Travelocity has launched a new mobile service that allows travelers to access travel information from anywhere using a cell phone or other web-enabled mobile device. (11/15/2007)

It can be accessed at mobile.travelocity.com.

Using the enhanced mobile service, travelers can view their current itineraries, book ground transportation and hotels, and receive up-to-the-minute information about flight status and security point wait times. Other useful travel tools provided by the service include: access to a currency converter calculator, city guide and destination information and local weather reports.

"As the technology for hand-held devices has advanced, more and more people have traded in their traditional cell phones for gadgets such as smart phones and PDAs," said Jeffrey Glueck, Chief Marketing Officer, Travelocity. "Whether it´s changing a flight or adding a rental car to their booking, mobile.travelocity.com gives travelers options for managing their trip while they´re on-the-go."

The new service will be powered by New York-based Usablenet, Inc. On an average day, tens of thousands of travelers connect via Usablenet to manage their trip via their mobile device.
