(13 April 2007) Travel social networking site TravelOwl is to ramp up its search facilities by installing a white labelled meta search engine.

Global Travel Market has been selected to run the system on the TravelOwl website ahead of what is expected to be the first in a series of improvements.

The search tool will be installed on the website shortly and utilised in TravelOwl’s email campaigns for flight search.

“As part of our commitment to delivering enhanced services to our users, we have selected Global Travel Market for their unique ability to fully customise a flight search engine to TravelOwl’s business requirements and their extensive travel partnerships with leading travel companies in the UK”, said Phil Taylor, online services manager for TravelOwl.

The deal for GTM comes just days after securing a prime spot on the Lonely Planet website to power meta search facilities for European users.

GTM chief executive Dave Simmons said: “We are delighted to be working with Travelowl, a young, innovative and rapidly growing company like ourselves.

“The Global Travel Market flight search engine will enable Travelowl users to search and compare flights from leading online travel agents and airlines, including scheduled, low cost and charter airlines, from around the world.”
