The white label affiliate of Booking.com — VNTrip, just a month after its official launch, has scored a Series A funding round of $3 million from an ex-Alibaba exec’s investment vehicle.

VNTrip, just a month after its official launch, has scored a Series A funding round of $3 million from an ex-Alibaba exec’s investment vehicle.

John Wu’s FengHe Fund Management was joined by Hancock Revocable Trust in leading the round, alongside a number of other unnamed investors.

The Hanoi-based consumer-facing service launched last month, although the company has had operations since its creation in 2014.

It has also built a series of tools for hotels in Vietnam to help with marketing and distribution.

Similar to a string of high-profile online travel agencies in Europe, such as eDreams, VNTrip is essentially a white label affiliate of Booking.com.

The Priceline Group-owned company powers the search and booking functionality on VNTrip, including the domestic portfolio of hotels and global inventory from the wider group.

VNTrip says it will use the money to expand the existing services and create perks for those that have booked on the site by offering free shuttle rides from airports.

Wu was chief technology officer of the Chinese ecommerce giant from 2000 to 2007.
